Science For Life | An Interdisciplinary Program in The Life Sciences at The University of Florida
Extramural Research Award

The HHMI Science for Life Extramural Research Award allows outstanding undergraduates with previous research experience to get a significant off-campus research experience at dozens of locations around the world. The challenge given to awardees is to get acquire enough data and analysis over the course of one or two semesters beginning in the summer to merit co-authorship of a peer-reviewed publication.

Ideal research projects are those that involve a collaboration or give research experience in a new method, area, or technique that you can bring back to your home campus.

Other benefits include:

  • Letters of recommendation from off-campus or international faculty
  • Participation in special campus events and poster sessions
  • A $500 publication award for each co-authored paper submitted
  • The $2000 SFL Matching Program for off-campus research
  • Eligibility for the $10,000 Provost Scholar Award to perform research at any location worldwide
